Plan your visit

We’re surrounded by wineries, breweries, distilleries, and all the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country. Use The SML Official Roadmap to the Hwy 290 Wine Trail to help plan your trip. You won’t be able to do it all in one visit, but we’ll be here when you’re ready to come back.

Major Attractions

Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site

Set over 700 beautiful acres, you can hike, swim, and visit historical cabins and the Sauer-Beckmann Farmstead. Keep your eye out for wildlife — there’s an enclosure of American Bison here!

Pedernales Falls State Park

Hike along nearly 20 miles of trails, or go swimming or fishing in the Pedernales River. Make sure to stop by the falls — a shallow cascade down the landscape’s rounded limestone. The park fills up on weekends, so make sure to make a reservation!

Enchanted Rock

More than a hill but less than a mountain, Enchanted Rock is a huge pink granite bubble jutting out of the arid landscape. Explore almost 11 miles of hiking trails, or go rock climbing on the steep sides of the dome.

Old Tunnel State Park

This abandoned railroad tunnel turned state park is now home to over 3 million Mexican free-tailed bats. Stop by at sunset to see the spectacle of their daily emergence from the safety of their cave.

Rockbox Theater

Catch a show at the Rockbox Theater. Once a warehouse, this theater seats nearly 400, and features original music, tribute bands, and comedy.

Pioneer Museum

Learn what life was like for German settlers in this area back in the 1800s. Check their calendar of events for walking tours and celebrations like Founders Day.

Downtown Johnson City

This quaint downtown features restaurants and antique shops in a charming town square. Catch live music on Saturdays at Pecan Street Brewing!

Fredericksburg

Less than 20 minutes from the Stonewall Motor Lodge, Fredericksburg’s historic Main Street is home to shops, wineries, and restaurants, as well as educational sites like the National Museum of the Pacific War.
